| Should I buy an AMD X2 4400+ now?
I really want an AMD x2 400 to upgrade my current system. the price is great and I am tempted to wait to see if the price drops even more, but I know they don't make them anymore. will these be available for awhile, or should I jump on it now?
thanks |

| If that's what you want and the price is good for you, get it now. Yes, it may be cheaper later, if you can find one. Once they become hard to find the price may rise again. -- The most ineffective workers are systematically moved to the place where they can do the least damage: Management. - Hence I'll always be Head Peon In Charge. |

| reply to scuuder3 scuuuder3: My humble opinion is this: I wouldn't take any chances here, I would jump on the current good prices and get something while it is STILL available and in manufacture. They are going to be dropping most of the non-AM2 chips like lead pretty fast, and demand will go up as supply dwindles.
Ultimately, NO ONE here can really predict or tell you what the market forces will be, but, judging from the posts here and elsewhere, a LOT of people are still choosing to build AMD systems, including s939 setups, so demand seems strong enough, if the posts are any indication...
Besides, how much more could it go down, while, well, think about how much more they could go UP. -- Let's be nice to each other, k? Life's too short. |

@xtraport.net | reply to scuuder3 I wouldn't count on them being around for very long. If that is specifically what you want, now is probably the time to buy. |

i have a 939 MB, I just went ahead and bout the s939 AMD 64 X2 4400+ for $235. I went with the 4400 for the 2 MB of L2 cache, figure I can O/C to 4800+ speeds. I can't wait for it to arrive. |

| I bought the same one last week. Trust me, you will not be disappointed with it. I even kept the stock heatsink and fan as it cools as well as the aftermarket one I had with my AMD athlon 64 3500+.
I didn't want to wait until they were gone, since the 1 MB. of L2 isn't being made anymore.
ENJOY, it rocks!!!!!!! |

| reply to scuuder3 If you want it do it NOW, I have an older slot 'A' AND 2600 w/333 bus my MB will take 400 bus, when I built I got the faster ram so when it got cheaper I would get a 3200 cpu at 400 bus--well they cut back and I think now have stopped making that cpu. The price went down but then started going back up- I never got but it is about time to build another anyway. It is like stock buy on the way down -sell on the way up. |
