| Here we go time for all the buracratic bs to start killing the process.

Why can't things go smooth and deployment of the tech move on?
Ill stick with my Gig wired network. Always on, always works, and dosen't mess with older devices.
Just my $.02 |

| Yes, I've never needed to move beyond wired. Network cable is like 1 cent a foot, including shipping. Basically free. Plus I don't like laptops because I can't build them myself, and they have VERY limited upgradeablility.(see my new word?) Might as well get a Mac.. |

| reply to bigfitch At home have netgear g 100mbs? laptop only has built in "b" 11mbs which I use 90% of the time. Need anything faster, connect up to gig bit wired lan. I know there are some that have a need for speed, but I'm guessing for home use that satisfies 90% of the market. |

You would be complaining that two standards based gear did not talk to each other or interfered with other gear.
However, nothing is holding you from getting pre-standard/draft-standard gear if you really need it. |

If you wish to screw them don't buy pre-draft. |

| reply to oktiri Actually I care. This pre draft stuff violates FCC rules about interference. My neighbor installed pren gear and now I had to boost my signals to keep his stuff from drowing out my wifi.
I literally could not get more than 1 wall away from the AP without issues. -- FIOS chat »www.fioschat.com MacChatter »www.macchatter.com |

If the equipment really did violate FCC rules, it would be illegal to import or sell in this country.
Bottom lines is that all the current 802.11 equipment works on an unlicensed basis in the radio spectrum. From a regulatory point of view, you have no guarantees any of it will work without interference, and if you do experience interference, you have no recourse. If you want freedom from interference, you need to get a license in an appropriate slice of spectrum, or you need to run a wire. |

| reply to NOCMan said by NOCMan :This pre draft stuff violates FCC rules about interference. No. All wireless equipment standard or draft or proprietary needs FCC certification. So, it abides by the FCC rules. Secondly, interference on the shared/unlicensed spectrum is expected and FCC is not going to do anything unless the equipment does cause interference in a licensed band. |
