Re: [TWC] Any Queens NY Premium users with speed upgrades ??? My wife uses the road runner wireless B Connection any one out there have that set up and what speeds are you averageing since the queens speed upgrade |

lseltzer join:2000-05-17 Fresh Meadows, NY | I should point out that with overhead and encryption, I have never gotten more than 5MBs or so on a wireless B connection. You might not get the full speed once it's past 5MBs.
My recommendation? Get rid of that router, get a regular router, and purchase an inexpensive router from CompUSA, BestBuy, MicroCenter, or the Internet. Plug it all in, setup encryption, and maybe you'll have better luck.
Does your wife have a laptop? Does it support wireless G? You could be getting much better performance if that's the case.

 | reply to NYMAN Im going to call them demanding credit for those three weeks. These a**holes should have upgraded us first. |
|
 | Post your results plaese? I wanna hear what they have to say... |

lseltzer join:2000-05-17 Fresh Meadows, NY | I'm still stuck at 5,300kbps max.

Also...Queens is still having issues - Eastern Queens, that is. Lots of Packet Loss tonight. So much for Tier 3 resolving the issues by Monday, eh? Hmm... -- Larry Seltzer larry@theseltzers.com |

 | Maybe we will be getting something overnight tonight?Scheduled maintanance @ 1am.Didn't the standard subscribers get their boost after some scheduled maintanance? |

lseltzer join:2000-05-17 Fresh Meadows, NY | A while ago. If your upload is over 400k, you're upgraded...although who knows? I have heard so many different explanations as to how they've done it that I can't trust anything except what I have on my own modem. And right now, I'm capped to 5,300kbps down and 478kbps up. I should be 7000kbps down and 512kbps up. When speeds were 2mbps down and 384kbs up, I would get about 2,100kbps down and 360kbps up, so it's odd...but there are issues....
for the zillionth time, I hope... -- Larry Seltzer larry@theseltzers.com |

 | No as a premium subscriber I have not been upgraded.I'm still at 8/512.So far only the standard rr customers have been upgraded. |
|
lseltzer join:2000-05-17 Fresh Meadows, NY | I gotcha.
On the other hand, no one's made any announcement of upgrades..have they? -- Larry Seltzer larry@theseltzers.com |
|
 | Unfortunately no I'm just VERY interested if they will give me a boost as well. They can keep me at 8mb's down but I want some more upload speed.Probably sounds like a broken record around here "Gimme more upload speed" lol.Oh well Can't blame me for the price I pay. |
|
lseltzer join:2000-05-17 Fresh Meadows, NY | Yeah..I can't setup any servers...gaming, FTP, or others that are too functional until I get more upload speed. But upload speed is the potential bottleneck they fear. Dunno anything. -- Larry Seltzer larry@theseltzers.com |
|
 | I wonder if there is any hope at all for us Premium guys/gals... I mean what's the use of paying $20 extra for 8mb's instead of 7? They either have to give us an upgrade or terminate the Premium package because I for one (and I'm sure most others) will not wait more than one billing cycle to downgrade to standard service. |

 | Definetly coming! Many planned maintances for the days coming, and somehow when TWCNYC is fully upgraded, I think the issues with Queens will go away. -- Who Cares? I Don't. Neither Should You.

lseltzer join:2000-05-17 Fresh Meadows, NY | Oh I'm sure it'll go away some day...
But in the meantime, they really did not manage our expectations. And to be fair, the service has been pretty bad for the past month and a half...for those in parts of Queens. -- Larry Seltzer larry@theseltzers.com |
