OCZ DDR2 RAM

I bought two OCZ sticks of 1 GB RAM running at 800 MHz. It turns out one of the sticks is bad. This is going to require me to drive 45 minutes each way to get a refund.

The question is: What kind of RAM do I get in its place. I chose the OCZ because is was cheaper than the other RAM the store was carrying AND it ran at 800 MHz instead of the 667 MHz that the other brands offered.

Do you think I'd be exercising poor judgement in getting OCZ again, given my experience here, or do you think the bad stick was an anomaly that's not likely to repeat itself?

Re: OCZ DDR2 RAM

Any company can have ram that is bad - no way to get around it. I don't know that OCZ has more sticks that are bad from teh get go than anyone else. i would simply replace the stick that is bad. If the PC store is good they should be able to test the new stick to make sure it is good before you go back home...

OCZ is a highly favored brand of RAM by overclockers, so stick with it, no need to change.

I like Corsair (IMO, better than OCZ for performance systemss) as well. For value systems, Kingston will be sufficient as well.

It's probably just one of the occasionally bad stick. As mentioned, OCZ is an excellent brand of RAM, and from what I hear, their service is good too.

AND lifetime warranty on their RAM, at least some modules, that is.

Most yes, and they will let you overclock the voltage a little and still be under warranty.
