Re: Anyone know about Community College Broadband?

I can't imagine any institution like a community college not having internet browsing capability on thier system. I also can't imagine that they would prevent you from browsing, especially in between classes. At U of M we have occasional profs that won't allow laptops in class because they're a destraction, but that's a whole other story.

If they want to prevent you from doing something they will se it up so that nobody can do that something. P2P, for example, runs on a specific port. They can block that port at their router or use a type of proxy set up to prevent certain applications from running and reaching the internet. They can also block individual website [myspace], IP's or entire subnets if they want to. Once you sign on to the system it will become clear very quickly what you can and cannot do.
