MB replacement help

Please I need assistance with a motherboard/cpu change, and how it will affect my current data. I'm switching out a Biostar/Athlon xp 1.66 combination, and putting in a Soyo/P4 3.0. So there is a change of chipsets and drivers. If I do an install of XP without repairing files and without formatting, am I going to lose my data (emails, bookmarks, personal files, applications)? Is this recommended? I know a fresh install of XP and installing the new mb drivers is better, but I always end up losing something I needed. I recently bought True Image that I can use to back up my stuff, but wont I also back up the old mb files if I do this? Any suggestions on the proper way to remove old motherboard files, put new mb files, and keep data files would be appreciated.
