Cyberonic email server down

Seems Cyberonic's email server has been down more than it has been up for the last two weeks. Anyone have any insight ?

In general ISP mail servers are not as reliable in my experience as something like gmail.

I would suggest the latter. I never use ISP mail servers for another reason too - portability when you change ISP's.

I hope you are not trying to infer that ANY other ISP has mail servers as screwed-up and unreliable as Cyberonics. There is NO QUESTION Cyberonics mail server is, if not THE crappiest on the web, a close second.

I laugh everytime I hear one of Cyberonics employees explain how the mail service is "free", but won't allow me to cancel my service and retain my "free" mail service. Free? Hah! If it weren't included in the Internet connection package, they couldn't force it on me.

Almost all ISPs include mail service with their subscription; it is an expected, and usually valuable service, as e-mail was/is the "killer app" for the Internet, demand for which was one of its driving forces.

E-mail service is one of the MAIN reasons to have an internet connection, at least for me, and a stable host is desirable. While Cyberonic has persevered in turbulent times, its e-mail service is worse now than it ever has been. They are not relieved of responsibility because they subcontract for the service, because continuing with their current incompetent e-mail service provider could only be justified if the company was run by some family member. Something stinketh in Cyberonicland.

Cyberonic has NO EXCUSE for providing such shitty e-mail service.

Not with all ISPs. I have had 5 years of faultless mail with DSL provider Charm.net(covad or verizon powered). The ISP has to care!!!!!! Service with Covad and Verizon circuits have been identical. Covad powered circuits are at the mercy of Verizon. I also have cable and tried Comcast's mail and it is terrible in the Baltimore area, even though the network connectivity has been nearly equivalent to the DSL. Comcast fails to filter junk mail.
