New Pricing and Cap in Quebec from Bell?

As an FYI if it is not already posted...

I dont know if this is new or not but i am getting charged 44 a month for hight speed(5M) with unlimidted capacity.

What i see below is the same service for less cost but at CAP at 30GB...

Is the way of things to come to push the optimax service?

Is optimax ADSL2?

Offer is for a limited time only; available to new Sympatico subscribers. Service offered to residential subscribers where technology permits. Pricing/offer subject to change without notice and cannot be combined with any other offer. Taxes extra. Other conditions apply, including minimum system requirements.

High Speed

Available with a 1-yr agreement. $32.95 /mo. for months 7 to 12 and the then current monthly rate applies thereafter. Early termination fees apply. One-time activation fee ($35) applies; credited to Videotron™ Internet subscribers who switch to Sympatico, for at least 2 months and fill out the applicable form. For validation purposes, Videotron subscribers must provide a copy of current or previous month's Internet invoice; this copy will then be destroyed. Allow 4 to 6 weeks after the first 2 months of activation for the credit to be applied. 30 GB of download and upload capacity per month; charges apply for any extra activity. $1.50/additional GB, billed in increments of 100MB (1024MB = 1GB) for a maximum of $30/month.

Provided by RadialPoint Inc. to Sympatico subscribers. No service offers absolute protection.

For High Speed Ultra and High Speed: 10 hours of free Dial-up access per month with each additional hour billed at $1.50/hour (plus applicable taxes and long distance charges).

you dont have optimax so why are you looking at other price plans for something you dont have?

2 different setups/2 different plans. I see no reason for your post.like comparing apples to oranges.

The price plans above is for the service i have (5MB). Compared to what i have, Its a cheaper plan and is subject to a cap on the download.

The point I am trying to make is the following.

Bell has reduced the pricing on it's 5MB service and introduced a cap to new subscribers in Quebec.

At the same time Optimax is coming online with higher prices, higher speeds and no download cap.

I wonder if in the near future current 5M users will be forced to a plan with a download cap. It seems to be a logical business decision for Bell to force those who want unlimited download to pay more for the higher end optimax service.

Still mixing the Apples and oranges?

Uh.. Optimax does have download caps. From the website:

"Sympatico Optimax 10 includes 50 GB of download and upload capacity/month; $1.25 /additional GB, billed in increments of 1GB. Sympatico Optimax 16 includes 75 GB of download and upload capacity/month; $1.00 /additional GB, billed in increments of 1GB"

I have not heard of any caps on high speed regular and high speed ultra in Ontario. I understand Optimax and Unplugged both have download caps. Quebec is a different story as we are hearing all kinds of rumours about new customers being "capped" on regular high speed. We need clarification here as many people are confused...anyone from Quebec that is a new subscriber?

French data is bigger, so they get caps, if you only surf in english in Quebec, there are no download caps
