1 edit | Computer Stutters Durning Game Play !!!
Hello got a question for anyone.
In just about every game the machines suffers from what you'd call bad stuttering.
Don't matter what I set the gfx to, LOW, MED, HIGH, it still stutters.
The systems specs is:
ASUS P4P800 Motherboard Intel Cerlon 2.2 gigahrtz Socket 478 2 Gigs Of DDR 400 Cosair Memory in Dual Mode Onboard Audio which is Soundmax Video card is a ATI x1600 AGP 8x 2 Large HD's lost of space left on them.
I did alot of upgrading too it and yet it stutters. I don't expect hard core top fps or anything just be able to play games without the stuttering.
I am running XP Pro. All my drivers are current, bios is updated, and Windows is updated as well.
Any ideas or clues anyone. I know this system is low end, but with the parts I have in it, I should be able to play low to med quality I would think.
Thanks... -- Like My DSL!!! |

| The answer could vary depending on the games you are trying to play. There is a big difference between trying to play solitare or DOOM 2 and trying to play Half Life or DOOM 3.
My first guess, based on your specs above, is your cpu. While it is 2.2ghz, it is a Celeron, which in the world of games and number crunching, means you have the equivalent of a 1.1ghz cpu. -- Google is your Friend |

| reply to CBLMorphis Could be your onboard sound coupled w/the CPU.
On my kid's old PC (celeron 1.0 Ghz) I couldn't get a 3d driving game (Hotwheels Velocity X) to play at even a bearable level until I disabled the onboard sound and put a basic/low-end sound card in the system.
The same game however, works fine w/onboard sound in their new PC (celeron 805D). |
