ATT/YAHOO Slammed my internet connection

Apparently someone named Heidi (whom I dont know and has nothing to do with my account) ordered att internet for my line.
On thursday I called dslextreme tech support (waiting 25 min on hold to talk to someone) to find out why my internet wasnt working, first thig the tech said was he wanted to send me a new modem, which I declined. Then he said he couldnt ping my modem so I asked him to open a ticket with the telco to fix this problem which he did.

I checked my mail on friday morning and I have a thank you for selecting ATT / Yahoo high speed internet mail.

I called them and they say they cant cancel it cause apparently I put a password on my account 2 years ago which I cannot remember doing or remember the password.
To fix that they need 3 forms of ID faxed to them at 3x normal size. If someone was able to change my account by ordering internet service without my password shouldnt they be able to fix that without my password?

Anyways is there any way yall can help me please?
Im on dslx dialup till I can get my dsl back.

Hi David,

FYI: It looks like you sent Ari an email instead of IM and the email got routed to me. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I was out of the office yesterday. I received your account information and am having our provisioning manager look into it. I will update you shortly.

Hi David,

Our orders team processed the ISP change order back on 8/22. The activation date provided by AT&T for the switch is 8/28. I thought I provided you that information when we talked last. I apologize if I did not. Your service should be up and running on or before the 28th.

Hi David,

I took a look at your account and am currently showing the modem out of sync. Do you have the modem plugged in? If so what do the lights on the modem indicate? Please let me know.

It may be that SBC didn't finish the provisioning yet.

Thanks

Hi David,

I am showing that you are on a dynamic based connection via DHCP. Do you have your router and or computer set to obtain an IP address automatically? I see you in sync and am able to ATM ping your modem. It looks like the service is up and running.

For your reference your current line readings are below.

DN STREAM SPEED The line is running at the maximum bit rate of 6016 kbps.
UP STREAM SPEED The line is running at the maximum bit rate of 608 kbps.
DN STREAM S/N The line noise margin is 11.0dB, which is above the target noise margin of 6.0dB.
UP STREAM S/N The line noise margin is 16.0dB, which is above the target noise margin of 6.0dB.
DN STREAM POWER The line power is 19.0dBm, which is below the maximum of 20.0dBm.
UP STREAM POWER The line power is 8.0dBm, which is below the maximum of 13.0dBm.
DN STREAM LINE CAPACITY The line is running at 76% of relative capacity on downstream transmission path.
UP STREAM LINE CAPACITY The line is running at 64% of relative capacity on upstream transmission path.

I had static ips, not DHCP, so no I dont have it set to obtain ip since my router did that previously with the static IP.
Does this mean that static is no longer available and I have to dhcp??

I set it on the router for dhcp and it works.
Why is my account changed to this?

Hi David,

I took a look at your order and it shows that you were down for a dynamic IP. Maybe since the pricing of the package you are on (Price Freeze) is the same for a static or dynamic you changed to a static after you placed the original order. I believe our orders team went off your original order when they processed the ISP change which is why you are on a dynamic IP currently. We can definitely change you over to a static IP though. I can IM you with the new IP settings. Once I see you have received the message I can rebuild you with the static IP. When your connection drops you would need to reconfigure your router with the static IP.

Let me know if that works for you.

Thanks

I have never had dynamic ip. Since I started my order was static and in one of my IM to you I asked you about my ip and was not answered.

Just leave it now. Ive had enough downtime.

Thanks a lot for your help
