| DSLx EXTREMELY vindictive!!!
After a few years of using DSLx, and having all the problems others refer to (non existent support, etc) I found that their prices were too high and since contract expiration was approaching and they didn't want to lower prices to meet current norms, I told them cancel... well, right away they slap a $90+ acct balance to get their equipment back (figured after two years, they wouldn't even want the old crap back... but hey, welcome to dslextreme's "highend" hand-me-downs new users.. LOL). As soon as you call them (and wait endlessly on the phone) and they find out you're cancelling... Woh!!!! LOL... you're nothin' but dog meat in their eyes... glad I'm leaving (I considered going back in a year after rates equalized, etc, but f them...) Good luck all you "new users"... |

1 edit | OK, so your complaint is the $99 balance that appears on your account statement until the modem is returned? Its not supposed to actually get charged to you unitl 30 days. The ADSL (1) technology that Verizon and SBC are currently offering hasn't really changed since 1998 so your "old outdated" equipment is, for most purposes, just as good as something new. It's a modem lease. Of course you're supposed to return it.
The "new customer" pricing issue does indeed suck but it's been discussed ad nauseum here, there's not much DSLX can do about it. They're limited by the promotional offerings of the telephone companies.
Then you say you were being treated like "dog meat" when you called but didn't really specify what that means. Who did you talk to, what did they say? I'm sure Ari, George and Aldo would love to know what was said so they can fix it. But general statements like that help no one. -- Laser eye surgery rocks! I love frickin' laser beams. |

| reply to sweaver I've only been with DSLX a couple of months but I sure haven't encountered that "non existent support".
I have found them to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
Just thought I'd stick up for them.:) -- This post printed on 100% recycled bytes |

| Just for clarification: Is the $99 charge just posted to the account for 30 days, then if the modem isn't returned your credit card gets charged? Or if you pay automatically by credit card the $99 is charged immediately when billed, and then you get a credit once the modem is rec'd? |

| reply to sweaver You say you were treated like dogmeat, obviously unnacceptable, but you didn't give any example as to how. I deal with escalated customer calls on a daily basis and I find people calling in to cancel, especially when they're already mad about support and upset they can't get a cheaper rate are rarely the most pleasent to deal with. It feels like we're missing a big piece of that story. |

| reply to sweaver Guys this is the typical user that just registers to post their venom. They come here and cry foul when it is their own ignorance that screwed them over. They dont even come back to see if anyone replies to their mediocre complaints.
I still dont understand why these people post these threads. Maybe they think they are warning other users of the evil ways of DSL X. They are offering their advice as a learning experience. What I cannot get is how they would think people would listen to them. You would have to be a total idiot to listen to the advice of someone who obviously did not bother to educate themselves. |

| reply to sweaver Well, as usual, we hear from the DSLx suxbutts. I often wondered if you all were PAYED by DSLX, or do they give you free dsl in exchange for going around promoting dslx and flaming everyone that criticizes them? Or is it that you simply spend so much time at work suxin butsins that you can't seem to quit after you get off work (if indeed you have a life beyond the great and fantastic world of promoting dslx)! Anyway, push up your nerdy little glasses and get a quick sip of your Starbuck's double-shot, oh yeah, and wipe your little chin... When you contact a company you do business with, you DON'T expect to be rudely dealt with merely because you're leaving them to go to another provider. Now, EVERYONE knows that ISP's regularly do that - and DSLxtreme is one of the MAIN ones. Yes, you little nerds, I did read the tos, etc., and I knew I'd need to return the crappy used equipment they originally sent me, it just bothers me that I know they'll turn right around and send it to some other poor sucker!! |

1 edit | reply to sweaver You've managed to be rude, condescending and self righteous all at once.
You claim you knew you had to return the modem and didn't. Now you are upset because you were charged for it after you didn't pay the bill. We're still trying to figure out who is being "vindictive" and why you can't take responsibility for yourself and your actions. |

| reply to sweaver Well, I feel like a Christian being drilled by an atheist. If you don't KNOW everything about the Bible, then it all MUST be a lie. Check it out DSLx... I didn't record my conversations... I didn't copy images of all the "Pending" tickets that magically became "closed" even though no answer/reply was given... and I didn't jot down the names of each individual I spoke with... I'll just say that it is evidently acceptable behavior, or else it wouldn't be happening!! You can claim you'll check into it, but if it were a true concern, I doubt it would be so prevalent. The main two points I'll make and then drop this thread are simple and OBVIOUS!!... to wit, DSL extreme costs $10 more per month at 3k/768 and you WILL be LEASING USED equipment to which you'll be paying a substantial fee, even after TWO YEARS of use, should you fail to return it (not that I'd keep it anyway... but Salvation Army might be able to sell for a few cents) in "usable" condition. Less apparent is the lack of support and rude behavior of employees at this company. I'm inclined to believe that most small companies have personnel of this low calibre, not just DSLx. Take my word on it... you'll open tickets that will NEVER be answered.. you will spend HOURS trying to fix a billing or technical issue and you WILL PAY more for the "privilege." 'nuff said on that... LOL... as to you dsl butzkizzers... you say you're NOT paid to respond to critical comments, and I believe you, leaving only one conclusion... try this... GET A LIFE!!! Laterz.... |

2 edits | reply to sweaver So he read the TOS? Then why is he bitching about a modem lease when it is free? They let him use it for free and asked him to return it so it can be leased for free to other users. If they dont get it back, then it makes sense to charge him. After all, it will have to be replaced so it could be leased for free to other users. Is this guy dense or what?
I agree about the horrible analogies.
Edit: How many people have to tell him he is wrong about something before he acknowledges it. It is also hard to see it from his point of view on the issue with the reps being rude when he is so close minded about the other stuff. |

ykronic Premium join:2006-01-31 Canada | Well if we ignore any phone reps that may have told him, I could 8 people saying so before he said he'd drop the thread. So looks like 8 is our golden number. |
