if you have used cyt35, then the vt2442 will no longer work with Vonage(unless you reset it), so you probably do not have even line1 configured. Try cyt4.6 and use one of the template xmls and update vt2442 to configure the lines.

well, you cannot have both vonage and a different provider on the same box. Try resetting vt2442 to see if it gets back to the Vonage settings.

snippet from the readme.txt.

hi,

thanks, i have reset the box and the setting is back, so there is no way to get another provider as well as vonage on line 1 and a different service for line 2.

by the looks of things it seem as if it is possible and only depends on the way it is configured.

any way. is it possible to get 2 numbers for free from any 1 service provider because i want 1 for calls and the other for fax.

thanks.

Yes, there is a way and this has been discussed here several times. I am not about to tell you how to do this because your device is still bound to a contract with your VoSP. If your device is not bound to any contract with your VoSP, then make your own XML file to contain your primary/secondary VoIP lines and feed, a.k.a. provision, it to your device. If you don't know how to do this, then it is better to leave your device provisioned by your VoSP. Otherwise, you may run into termination sanctions by your VoSP that may cost you more in the long run. You have been warned!

hi, ofcourse i am not bound to anything with vonage.

the reason i am here is because they do not offer any support. i own the equipment an i am under no contract and out of there terms and conditions.

i do not know anything about XML. i have downloaded some but not for 2 lines also the settings for vonage are not available anywhere this is the only place things are happening. please help if you can.

thanks.

Who is your VoSP on Line1? If you are not under any contract with any VoSP on Line1, then your device should not be locked by the VoSP. If it is still locked and servicing by VoSP, then you are bound by their TOS, AFAIK.

my 12 months contract is over with vonage. i am still with vonage but not under any contract.

i will leave vonage if i have to but want 2 lines. the only reason i have vonage on first line is because i can make calls to uk and ireland for free and i want 2nd line just for receiving fax. vinage will charge 5.99 for fax line and i really dont want to pay that.

thanks.

But, your Line1 is still bound by the Vonage TOS which I believe doesn't allow any tempering. Like I said in my previous post, the information you want on how to do this is available on this forum. All you need is to search for it.

Sorry, I am too cheap to use any commercial VoSPs. So, no Vonage for me.

you can probably sign up at freedigits.com or stanaphone.com to get free inbound numbers, dont know how these work with fax. check out faxdigits.com to see if that will suffice. But again, none of them provide you with your local area-code number for free (voicestick.com does, but does not work with vt2442). You may endup getting numbers from Iowa or NY

Sorry, but that software doesn't unlock the wrtp54-ER for earthlink. The locks are completely different. If it was another device that you are talking about Maps, then excuse me.

Assuming you are logging-in as Admin with the Password of Admin:

What version firmware is in your VTECH ?

I know of three versions.

•The first version does not have the Line1 settings page needed to set your SIP settings.
•The second version does have those html pages.
•The third version may not unlock using CYT.

The firmware version info should be displayed someplace in there..
