| Best AGP card on market?
I was going to upgrade from my ATI radeon 9800pro 128mb AGP to the ATI 1600 pro 512MB AGP. I was looking around and it seems this is the best AGP card you can get atm? Is there a better AGP card out there? Also how big of a upgrade would getting this card be from my current one and is it even worth the upgrade? How outdated is the 9800pro? |

| 7800 GS or 6800 Ultra OC, if you could EVER find one. I have the one two steps below it (the OC is just a factory overclocked version of the ultra): a BFG 6800 GT OC, on the nVidia side... -- Let's be nice to each other, k? Life's too short. |

X1600XT is the closest to the 7800GS. I have the 7800GS It's very, very good. -- Need-based health care not greed-based health care. |

The top nVidia card, according to this cgart is the 7800 GS.
The 7900GT is still in the pipeline but may be released later this month. -- Need-based health care not greed-based health care. |

the X1600XT may be the top AGP card from ATi but that doesnt mean its as fast as a 7800GS »www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php···ard2=440 as you can see the 7800GS is much faster |

| Yup. Limited run, 1500 cards, out of spec...
I'm not arguing which one is faster. Just stating that the 7800GS is the top nVidia AGP and the X1600XT is the top ATI AGP. Nothing more. -- Need-based health care not greed-based health care. |

I was able to combine some Aeroplan points worth $200 plus a $50.00 rebate to get the card for under $200 CDN including taxes. YMMV. -- Need-based health care not greed-based health care. |

| reply to mackii If your computer is a Dell, be careful about the X1600 Pro 512MB AGP. I tried one in three different Dells without success - machines won't POST. ATI says it is a known problem and wants you to ship them the card for "warranty service." I have seen reports that this card will work in some Dells. |

| reply to mackii There isn't much point in replacing a 9800 pro with a 1600pro. I would go with a x800gto.
I wouldn't spend the money on a high end agp card, like the 7800gs. As was said above, it would make more sense to swap out the motherboard and go with a 7600gt or better pci-express card. |

| reply to mackii Then again, the X800XT is a pretty reasonable card.
For $165 or so it's not that expensive. -- A silver bullet without a gun is just a fancy rock. |

| Iv heard that a lot of the Sapphire AGP X800GTO cards have been coming with 16 pipes. Not sure about their PCIx16 cards. Could be that I got 1 out of 10, but I doubt it. That's just not my luck |
