You do have to add the 2nd unit because it matters what the AP is shooting at.
What I would do is set a 2nd unit as a simulated client. I use the defaults of 15' agl (single story roof mount height) 50% tree coverage (however 75% may be closer to reality for typical rural areas), and pick a CPE that you would plan to use and use the manufacturer's specs.
You can test what I mean by setting this up and then change the antenna on the client side. Your coverage area will change as a result.

Radio wave propogation is similar to the EPA estimates on gas mileage. You never really know until you get it out there and drive it. |

Thanks.
Although after reading it I'm finding that you can't do any of the propogation estimates with only one unit. I guess I can put the other unit in the same spot only with no power running to it. Or maybe disabling it in the unit setup would work.

| Could someone walk me through getting a radiomobile setup for just one omni? The draw button it staying greyed out until I put in a second unit. As a startup I'm probably going to need to know how far i can estimate the signal from my house is going to go. I had another thread about a 15 mile nlos for two points but this just needs the one. Thanks! |
