FAQ reminder: this is a group of volunteers

It seems that lately there are a number of individuals who forget the purpose of sites like this. The regulars on this board are not paid, nor are they required to assist anyone here in any way. So coming here and demanding answers or help, or firing off 2 or 3 inane questions a day without putting any thought into it just doesn't make anyone want to deal with you.

For starters, read this FAQ: »Site FAQ »How To Get Noticed On This Site

Basically, put some thought into your issues. Speak coherently. Be polite. Be patient. Be thankful and gracious. Post your solutions if you get things fixed to help others down the road (it's amazing how that helps future googlers). Actually post a response when someone has answered your question rather than read it, use the knowledge, and move on.

To be honest with you, the only thing anyone who helps anyone else on this board gets from it is the praise and thanks from the one whom they helped. Stop giving it out and there is little reason for someone to help you. You just become irritating.

No, I am not a mod. But I have a vested interest in this community and would like to see it continue to grow and thrive.

Thanks for reading,
--Jim

I guess your post demonstrates just how many people don't bother to read the FAQ or in this case, don't take them to heart if they do.

This should be required reading on ALL the forums. Maybe put it on the New Topic page in addition to the small reminder to keep comments on topic.

Dude... Post like yours is likely to start a meltdown similar to the ones that happen in ATU. They'll take this as a n00b-bashing thread and that people are hostile here for expressing such thoughts.

I do it for the Thumbs Ups .

I am in complete agreement here; many don't realize that we sometimes put quite a bit of effort in fixing their problems, which they can often find themselves by a Google search.
