wifi issues

I have a netgear router (WTG624v3) and a toshiba laptop m55 s325. it won't connect to me while the router is set to "b" only. it has to be set to b only or the laptop down stairs won't connect. (it's an older sharp model)

if your wondering what the firmware is

Account Name WGT624v3
Hardware Version V3H1
Firmware Version V2.0.10_1.0.1NA

what's odd is when it's set to "b and g" it connects.

should i just set it to g only and be done with it or what?

your labtop supports connection in "b" mode only. what would it accomplish by setting the router to strictly "g"? Set it either in "b" or mixed "b+g" mode.

Check the wireless mode on your Toshiba's wireless card. It sounds like it's set to "802.11g only". It should be set to "802.11b only" or, possibly, "Auto".

because if i have it set to g and b it will see a ghost connection (the sharp downstairs) something in all blocks for about 30 seconds then it will successfully connect.

where do i find this setting in the laptop's settings to adjust it from g or auto only?

ok.. fixed the issue. removed the intel wifi connection programme and connected via the windows thingy. pain in the ass to enter the key twice.
