In the most current edition of the "Optimum Insider:"

The message at the bottom of my inbox viewed in webmail shows 1MB in use and 19MB available. That's 20MB total.

I'm not an active subscriber but my email has always remained active and available. I'm on Mail Store 9 - mstr9.srv.hcvlny.cv.net

It doesn't matter all that much to me since I download my mail, but the fact that its announced yet the webmail amount appears to be inconsistent for some is a tad odd. I wonder if Wilt is aware?

I'm so impressed with you I broke out in pimples. You have a personal communication channel to Wilt? You are like the Jerry Falwell of the forum.
Bless you brother!

Per Wilt:
Okay, turns out it's a coding issue that will get sorted out next week. It's reporting the wrong value. All users' mail quota IS to 500MB, the template that reports it is set incorrectly.

They're still apparently deleting messages after 90 days, though.

I know that this is OT for this topic, but I am shocked on three fronts from you post.

1) That Wilt would subscribe here and use his REAL name.
2) That he checks this forum often.
3) That he would respond to PM's.

I have been an OOL subscriber for several years, and while I have had my ups and downs with the service, one fact has been a constant. Wilt has always been there to help users. Considering his position in the company, I would NEVER expect him to care at this level, yet he does on a consistent basis. While I question the compensation of MOST of the officers in CV, regardless of what Wilt is paid, it is NOT enough.
Sadly, he will be leaving the company in the not too distant future, and I doubt that anyone will step up to fill his shoes in CV/OOL, when it comes to addressing users issues.

As you may know, Wilt is also quite active in the OOL forum on the Yahoo groups. He's a very "hands on" guy. In my reply to his PM, I told him that he will be missed.

Oh, and get this. Not only does he reply to PMs and e-mails (his e-mail address is public in his profile), but he responds to instant messages as well! I know its the "real deal" because I had an issue with both my TV and Internet and I e-mailed him my account information and the next day top engineers and techs were contacting me to get the issue fixed.

Just checked my inbox, same thing.

Guess CV runs volume licensing with their Sun MTAs. I would have figured my account would be blown away by now.

I'm on MTA store 4 btw

We don't show the 500 Mb and we didn't get the Insider this month either. When did yours arrive? I have also been tracking e-mails I had sent to my daughter who's also on optonline. She hasn't received any of the ones I sent her in the past 2 weeks. so today I sent her one with delivery and read confirmation. Got the delivery confirm immediately, but when I spoke to her a half hour later she hadn't received it. Something else at OV not quite working right??

I got it in my mailbox on 8/25. I posted the topic shortly after reading it.

Considering he's an executive VP which means his base salary and the bonuses puts him well into the millions, i think whatever he's paid is more than enough.

Point taken, but I think you missed MY point, he does more as ONE person to better all aspects of the companies reputation than ALL the other employees above or below him, so as such, he is UNDERPAID in my book.

Since he seems to get the point as to providing a service to customers, he should have been put in charge of the entire operation and all the other useless "management" personnel should be fired.

amen to that!!

Replace all the incompetant rejects with people that know how things are run and install that formula from the top down....unfortunately, their business model does not factor this in....it's all a number game for management, that's all... Longevity is a rare animal in CV land.

I would have to disagree with that. I think every CV individual I've come in contact with from Wilt on down is still a CV employee and it's been 5 years. That includes those in some of the support organizations I've been in contact with and the platform groups (LDAP/Email) that I was in contact with. I'd say over the course of the 4 years I had OOL I communicated with 8+ folks within the organization through the Yahoo forums and this forum. As far as I know, based on emails in the past 6 months, those folks are still working at CV. I even see their names pop up from time to time on the Yahoo lists.

Each and every one of those individuals cared, followed up, and check back in from time to time. I have the exact opposite opinion of the competency, ownership and pride that CV employees take in their work that you do.

I have to agree, at least going by dealing with a few OOL employees here on DSLR in the past. They were nothing but helpful and resolved my issues, on their OWN TIME.

I may have "painted" all the employees with too broad of a stroke, I should have only used it in relation to the "management" personnel, who in my personal experiences have NEVER been the least bit helpful, with some exceptions, some have even bordered on rude!

The DSLR people who have been here, IMHO, are the exception, and look what their help got them, I would guess that they were "asked" by CV/OOL not to provide "help" here anymore, because I doubt that they left on their own.
