Westell Versalink Gateway - Firmware update

Does anyone know where to get the firmware update for this? I've been unable to connect to my wireless network with a new laptop from dell and was on the phone with them for 45 minutes. When technician asked what version of FW and mine is Rev. 0.1.0.11 and he tells me that it needs to be 0.3.02.01... and I don't know how to get it.

Some more info just in case. I had XP Pro srv pack 2 and could not run the update file from Verizon. If updated from the web browser (in modem configuration) I got a CRC error. When I ran the update the way Verizon said to do it would just search away at 192.168.1.255 and stick. No way to change it to 192.168.1.1 to find the 327W modem. So this is what I did, I forgot I had reset the modem and originally I had the modem at 192.168.1.9 but after resetting it defaulted back to 192.168.1.1 My gateway (tcp properties - gateway) was still .9 So... After changing gateway to .1, I ran the update fine, it seems to be faster in 2000 though. If you have a 2k system use that.

The issue you're having with your dell laptop is explained here:

When I performed this update using 03.02.01 from Verizon, the VersaLink software tells me that it transferred successfully to the modem, and then "please wait" while it saves. However, at this point is always fails after a long delay.

When I look in the VersaLink itself, it does now show that the Software Version has been updated, but the Boot Loader shows the original software version. Is the Boot Load version supposed to match the software version after a successful update?

Also...someone mentioned that 4.0 is the latest VersaLink version. Where is that available? Thanks to anyone who can answer some of these questions.

I dissected the Verizon Uploader incase you want to update your A90-327W15-06 Modem from a non-windows OS or if your modem wouldn't be seen by their tool like mine. I uploaded the file through the router's web interface and it worked!

Thank you demo version of P.E. Explorer and my own drunken rage.

Cheers!

You need to login in order to download it. If this doesn't work let me know and I can e-mail the A90-327W15_VER_03_02_01.UPG file.

That's because you have a different model Westel Modem Router. You probably have a Westell 2100/2200/6100 modem. We are only talking about the Westel VersaLink 327W A90-327W15 model modem here which firmware 3.02.01 is the most current firmware available for it.

I actually had a very pleasant conversation a few days ago with Verizon tech support (with "Archie" in Mumbai) and was prepared to call them back today for help updating the firmware of my westell 327 that wasn't connecting with a newer computer... instead I poked around and found this topic and the update file above. Thanks, it worked very easily.

Just wanted to let you know you are incorrect justin. I have a Versalink 327w a90-321w15a6 and it had firmware version 4.02.00.00 on it. After running the utility from verizon it is now at revision 4.03.02.04.
