Re: Now we have Monday RAW ...........OH GOD NO !!!

It's called testing the water ECW did great so they're seeing how much genera saturation they can pull off on the Sci-Fi Channel. My gut tells me that NBC is probably looking to move their USA network more towards the mature adult audience. And transform the Sci-fi Channel into their channel aimed at the youth demographic. They'll still probably show some show from WWE later at night on the weekends. But the bulk will be moved to the Sci-Fi. And Bravo will remain their equivalent to what A&E used to be.

LOL I knew someone would mention that. They did introduce MTV2 which actually plays some music once in a while, though they tend to get off topic with beavis and butt head reruns and such.

I agree that aside from a few rare gems, SciFi isn't worth having. Unless of course you like {insert crappy "Sci-Fi channel original" B-movie of the week}.

quote:
As long as the shows you want to watch are on, why do you care whether they're on 125 or 215 ? Is it too much trouble to change the channel?
True, but I'd prefer to find stuff in the category it's supposed to be in. When I go to the candy aisle in a store, I expect to find candy, when I'm in the cereal aisle I expect to see cereal. In the same way I expect to find sports on the sports channel and news on the news channels, etc.
Music on Music Television - couldn't resist

Ever since I got a tivo I have no idea what channel things are on. It simply doesnt matter to me anymore.

Actually, what they need to do is bring back the short-lived sci-fi series they use to run. I can't remember what it was called, but they had a timeslot where they only showed series that lasted 2 years at most. A lot of them were only partial series. Automan and Misfits of Science come to mind.

I normally don't watch Sci-Fi outside of BSG. I'll flip through it now and then but that's about it. Do they even show Seaquest DSV or Quantum Leap anymore?

Maybe none of you guys have noticed this...

but outside of Sci-Fi Friday, most of the stuff Sci-Fi airs is absolute crap.

WWE would be no different.

What they need to do is bring back MST3K Saturdays.

I have spoken out about the Wrestling fare on SCi/Fi i don't think it is the proper venue for it. Yes I believe it is a stupid show. But As Logan5 has said The degrading and insulting some people for wanting to watch it is wrong and I admit to being at fault also.

I guess some people find it amusing and a form of gladiatorial comedy.
To each their own I guess if we all thought the same SCi/Fi could be considered by some as nonsense as well.

If there are more idiots that like watching wrestling than that like watching sci-fi it makes sense to broadcast more wrestling than scifi on a whole.
Ummmm I guess that the whole concept of 'Idiots like me' who actually find wrestling a funny and amusing way to watch some TV when nothing else of quality is on fails to register with you eh?

As I said before I personally like it but would hate to see Atlantis or BSG pushed aside for it.

This week, USA is preempting the Monday Night RAW time slot tonight for a movie called Exiled, a 1998 movie based on the "Law & Order" franchise.
(As well as airing the Andre Agassi farewell tennis tour)

Vince McMahon needed to air his weekly show somewhere and since he owns ECW which is shown on Tuesday nights on Sci-Fi, it makes sense that at least for tonight that "RAW is Sci-Fi"....

Who said anything about scifi watchers not being idiots? I sure didn't. You assume too much about my prejudices. If you reread my statement you will in fact find me speaking what I think as a scifi viewer (disgust) and as an economist (understanding.)

Yeah, and seeing the way things and shows are going, USA would be the new Sci-Fi network. Just doesn't seem right, although I understand the reasons for it. Pretty unreasonable, attacking the viewers who watch the show just because it happens to be on the same network. It's not like the wrestling fans themselves decided to move to a different network.

I had this idea a while ago:
See, I figure I wouldn't mind spending a dollar or so an episode for a good SciFi show. I also figure I'm not the only SciFi fan who wouldn't. So why not make a program which is largely funded by its fans? I figure the episodes would be made available for download or on DVD, both at a great resolution (we're major funders of the show, after all.) It's a question of economics if it'd work, but I can't help but think it could.

It's nothing to worry about presently but if it shows success, who's to say they won't expand on this idea.

It makes no sense other than economic. It's like the foodnetwork running a Mythbusters episode.

Oh well, I just hope to hell this isn't the start of SciFi going wrestling. I am incapable of thinking of a more boring form of 'entertainment' than watching two guys duke it out. I really f'ing hate that piece of shit wrestling crap!

My thoughts exactly.

CBS airs 3 different CSI-type shows a week, and although i'm tired of seeing it, I don't consider it the end of the world.
