Could you post more details about your setup? What brand modem are you using? Who is the DSL provider? Is your modem also acting as a router? In that case you would set your router to dynamic IP and not PPoE. |

| If your SMC router is handling PPPoE make sure your user name and password are correct. Also, leave the service name field blank. Putting the DSL service name in that field caused a problem on my D-link router. Check your MTU setting in the router and make sure it is no higher than 1492. Finally, you may have a router that is overheating or defective. Good luck. I am not familiar with SMC routers. I have worked with D-link and Linksys. |
