How did you fund your Epic mount?

I bought my second epic mount the other day finally. I had one for my Dwarf Hunter but made a Druid the same week and regretted spending the money for the epic ram since I decided to make the Druid my main. With the Dwarf I just farmed thorium/crystals. I am herb/alch on my Druid so sold I bags of ghost mushrooms and the occasional green item I came across. One blue item dropped during my farming and a Disgusting Oozeling. The Oozeling netted me 230 Gold so I lucked out there. Mushrooms seemed to be the bulk of my epic funding though. How did you farm for your epic mount? This question is for those that didn't get it via PvP or looting one.

I rerolled on my current server (abandoning a 41 hunter) and chose a warlock, so my epic mount was a quite a bit cheaper than most. I actually got my warlock mount for even cheaper than most warlocks, since i had friends give me the arcanite bars, and make the potions, and even had a warlock friend who still had the mat's for the quest. I think i ended up spending only 250 or so gold for my epic mount.

I had 650 gold when i hit 60 from scanning the AH with Auctioneer. I generally only bought stuff that would net me 80+ gold profit, and was likely to sell. Sadly though, i blew about 400 gold to get attuned for Naxx, so that I could raid with my friends (while rolling in greens and tier 0 blues. I was probably the most undergeared Naxx raider, ever.)

Paladin was my first main - just took alot of grinding to get the required mats. 350 gold i think in the questline.

I got this right at the time that they put the quest in for the pally, so Pristine Black Diamonds were expensive. I ended up paying 300g + 4 arcanite bars + 4 azerothian diamonds for the pristine diamond. All told, it cost almost as much as a regular epic, with the added quest lines to boot. (Makes me sick to see pristine diamonds going for 1-2g now a days :/ )

My next character was/is a warrior. I had mining and skinning and sold all the stuff I gathered up to 60. Was rather easy to build the money.

Those are my only 60s.

Any gathering skill nets a good gain.

I started saving money for my epic mount at lvl 51.

I went to instances a lot, sold green and more importantly herb farmed.

Money has always come easily to me in this game...heck right now I have 400G on my lvl 60, and 60 G on my lvl 51. And I have nothing to spend it on.

On my undead priest, I first got the skeletal horse after spending time farming (well, fishing) in Azshara. Made such a killing selling stonescale eel, essence of water etc. Now Im sitting on all of the horde mounts thanks to rank 11 ^_^

Still got quite a decent amount of gold after everything. ~2000g

I farmed in Hearthglen a lot for mine, and a few days after buying it I stumbled across the Plans:Titanic Leggings, only the day after they were released, so ended up with another 500G.

Thing is, I never spend any money, at the moment I have 1800G and I never grind or anything, a night of wipes in BWL will set me back close to 20G but that can be made up in an MC clear.

Saved gold, bought low, sold high, used professions to earn extra. Earned Exalted with AV for a cheaper second epic.

After over a year of wow i still havnt bought a epic mount, and probably never will. NEver going to use it apart from travelling to instances, and seen as im the healer they usually wait for me

All my gold goes into repairs or for my alts or for general fun things!

I do wish i had one for pvp sometimes, but its never really gimped me to be honest. And i love my old faithful Striped Night saber

To to farm gold I usually scan the AH, farm SM, use my rogue to do pick pocket runs in instances, also have mining on one alt and skinning on my main, and enchanting 300/300 with a few rares from AQ and MC.

One day I might get a mount :P

At level 60, the quests net you 4-8 gold a pop. That adds up real quick when a group of five are doing quest. Plus, you can usually get some good items to sell/disenchant/etc.

Herbalism/Mining are good money makers.

But here is how I made my money. Runecloth Belts. I would buy up about 100g of Runecloth on the auction house, make runecloth belts, disenchant them and sell the mats. As long as the Dream Dust was selling for 6-7g per 10 (more like 12-14 per 20 since the latest patches) I was going to make money. At that time, it was selling for 10g per 10 and they couldn't get enough. I made about 600g just crafting and disenchanting, using the work of all the runecloth farmers.

Eventually, over a month and a half, the items weren't selling as well and I pulled out of it. I was able to fund my twink, but that 700G could have gone towards an epic mount.

My first level 60 warrior is a miner/engineer and I pretty much mined my way to my epic.

My second level 60 is a priest and is a miner/herbalist. I can make money hand over fist with this guy. I use gatherer and I can pull in at least 30 gold in an hour of mining and herbing. If there are a lot of herbs, I can make more and if arcane crystals drop, I can pull in double that amount on average. I have a couple areas that I have mapped out, kinda like a mailman route. I go in a certain pattern where I can time the mines so they respawn right about the time I get there. I think I have gotten pretty good at it, but not ready to share all my secrets yet or where I go.

I try to farm about 1 hour a day if I can, but since I got my epic mount, I haven't farmed much. I have 300 gold and have gotten lazy. When I was trying to earn my epic mount, I would get up early in the morning before I went to work and farmed for an hour when the population was low.

I am a firm believer that two gathering professions can net you the most cash. However, no matter what you choose, you have to spend time to earn gold.

Farming and selling stuff on the AH.

My druid has 1, paladin, rogue, hunter, warrior, and of course my mage.

It's great to have the AH by the cookies.

My guild has a tradition of everyone pitching in to help buy your epic when you turn 60. We're a small guild so you're not always giving away gold. So, I started saving on my own, selling enchants like Crusdaer, selling enchanting ingredients like Large Brilliant Shards and selling fish like Stonescale Eel and then my guild threw in the rest. It was great!

I don't know...purchasing my epic mount was THE best purchase I have ever made in Warcraft.

On top of that, I have spurs, riding enchant and carrot, so I have a NASCAR mount.

Did it the old fashioned way, farmed like crazy since lvl 50 to 60 (80g quota every level). I was a mage, so farming while grinding was fairly easy.

I was able to buy my epic mount as soon as I hit 60 (in fact, I got the epic before I had money for buying skills).

Chinese gold.

Bought when it was really cheap. Believe I picked up 500g for $18 twice & 1000g for $38?.

Now that I am 60 and know how to farm I make excellent gold off of Alchemy.

Is the only requirement for using an epic mount is lvl 60 or do you have to be exalted?

The only requirement for an epic mount is:

Lvl 60.
800-1000G (10% off from honored, 10% off from Rank 3).
Mount training.

You only need to be exalted if you wish to ride another race's mount, ie a night elf wanting to ride a horse.
