| Some EVDO Facts
There's confusion about data cards vs evdo phones. Tethering is for phones, not data cards, which in itself is data on the laptop. Sprint is $60/month unlimited and you don't need a voice plan, so Verizon/Cingular voice users can get that rate. Verizon requires a Verizon voice acct to get it at $60/month, otherwise it is $80/month. An Verizon is not truely unlimited where Sprint is.
For tethering phones, Sprint is $15/month for basic inphone data and $40/month to tether = $55/month - there are hacks to get around this so can be done for $15/month. Verizon is $60/month to tether/inphone data. There are no Rev A phones announced yet but Sprint will offer them by Q4.
EVDO Rev 0 cards cannot be upgraded to Rev A but Rev 0 devices will work on Rev A network at Rev 0 specs.
Sprint plans to rollout Rev A to nearly entire network by end of next year. Verizon has not mentioned their plans yet but it may be difficult to do most of network with the 800mhz tower limitation that Verizon has but Sprint does not. |
