 Ditch the dish promo

Is Comcast still doing a ditch the dish promo? I am currently a happy DirecTV user, but I am going to be buying and HDTV soon and am very disappointed with what DirecTV has to offer in HD. Comcast is my only alternative and was looking for a good deal.

Any ideas?

There are definitely still doing it. I see the promos on Comcast quite a bit.

I see the promo on the outfield wall when I watch the Atlanta Braves games on TBS.

Called Comcast and the current promo is Digital Gold for $33 month for a year. I wish I knew what to estimate for taxes so I could get a more realistic look at the cost.

Before you go to comcast, realize you're going to be getting a vastly inferior interface with advertising clogging up your channel listings. Comcast's HD DVRS are also buggy and slow.

Consider Dish for HD content. They have 25 HD channels (as opposed to Comcast's 18 (at least 4 of which are only available via separate subscription).

Well, I don't know if the OP has D* or E*. If he has D*, I'd consider Comcast too since all of D*'s HD is HDLite.

Have you looked at DIsh Network? Their HD is better than DirecTV.

Not really. I am thinking I don't want a dish anymore. Haven't made a final decision yet.

Edit: Just checked for my location and they don't even have Fox in HD. No thanks. Locals in HD are a must and due to my location OTA does not work well.

I have had both dish companies and they both suck just as bad if not worse(Dishnetwork)than cable. Dishnetwork is shady.I do not like the way they do business. Directv telemarketers call you too much. They also have a lousy selection of premium movie channels.

STAY WITH DIRECTV! Comcast's guide has VERY annoying advertisements in it. People are actually considering switching to satellite because of this.

What happens after 1yr? I always go between Comcast and Dish because these deals are really attractive, 1yr $40/month for pretty much every channel.... but any way to get that beyond 1yr, I switched like 10months ago...

I'm still on the dish buy back program.
The first year was $33 a month, Free HBO and Showtime (Digital Classic). The second year goes up like $10. Then the third year will be normal price. As soon as I reach the normal price
I'm going back to Dish.

The funny thing is, when I signed up they told me they would take all the Dish equipment. When the guy showed up he never took the dish or the box. So it should be fairly easy to switch back to dish...then back to comcast for a new 3 year buy back program.
