One minor thing to keep in my mind regarding these results is that Avira Premium was the program tested.I hear that the difference between Avira Premium and Avira free is that there is more spyware/adware definitions in Premium. At any rate these results will cause a lot of users to seriously consider Avira for their a/v needs. Rightfully so. |

| reply to Frisky HI Frisky,
I appreciate the reply, and understand that the test was with the old version. I am looking forward to the test with V4. I understand that IBK is going to run a special test with it. That will be good.
F-Prot (I got corrected for posting F-Protect, but assumed that was what the Prot stood for.) has a loyal following of some very savvy folks, so I am expecting almost miracles.
Although I am not currently a user, I appreciate the license fee plan that is very generous and helps famillies and those who have more than one computer. I hope you can continue that, but realize that you might not be able to.
Thanks again, and keep up the good work.
Best Regards, Jerry |

Thanks for clarifying that about Avira and the Premium vs. free detections. Thanks also for the professional tests! |

| reply to Mele20 I don't understand why so many people are now excited about the results Avira achieved in the recent comparative test. Every AV vendor could make the same detection based on flagging every strange runtime packed file at the cost of producing a high number of false positives. If you use legit software that is protected against reverse engineering, you'd get most of the files flagged as suspicious. In real life, I couldn't live with that, I noticed about 20 FPs because of this in a single day. |

Is there anyway to see how many false positives each AV had? |
