Re: Get Modem Stats while Hooked Up to Router?

A kind of dumb question, But I am not that familiar with messing around with these settings. Would it be possible to change the routers IP address to 192.168.1.2 and leave the 6100 as .1.1? Of course I would change default gateway to .1.2.

Thanks

Frank

Sure, but as mentioned above, make sure the router's DHCP addresses to not include 192.168.1.1.

If you mean a router attached to the modem, you need to set the router to a different subnet. I use a SpeedStream 4100, but the principle is similar. SS4100 is accessed at 192.168.0.1, so any router in the 192.168.0.0/24 subnet won't see the SS4100. I changed my router to the 192.168.102.0 subnet (router is 192.168.102.1 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0), and can reach the SS4100 across the NAT just fine.

For your case, I would suggest setting the router LAN IP address range to 192.168.2.0/24, which is to put the router IP address as 192.168.2.1, with the subnet mask at 255.255.255.0.
