Re: [XP] Lynksys router BEFSR41 PPOE problem

You have to remove all your PPPoE authentication from your PCs and set those to "obtain from DHCP".
Your PPPoE is handled by the router (enter your PPPoE info credentials to the router if you haven't yet) and the router will hand IP addresses to all connected PCs via DHCP.

Re: [XP] Lynksys router BEFSR41 PPPoE problem

I have enetered the necessary info into the Router ie:PPoE info
If I remove authentication, that will disable my ability to log in to internet using the Aliant High speed Internet connection. Correct?
I'm a little confused over this.
Thanks,
bill

The router will handle your internet PPPoE connection for all your PCs centrally.
You will be able to access internet from any PC behind the router.

OK,
so is the "obtain from DHCP" option in Network properties or Router config?

Thanks,
bill

On the PC in TCP/IP settings under Network Properties.

Forget to ask,
do I still connect using High Speed connection manager?

Thanks,
bill

No, uninstall it.

Hmmm...
I don't see those "obtain from DHCP" settings anywhere. Do they become visible after I uninstall the High Speed connection software?
