Besides what JohnA See Profile said, doing what you suggest would then require you to use a PPPoE client to access the internet, like with dial-up where you need to put in name/password and then connect. Of course that could be automated.

Leave it like it is. The NAT function of the router portion of the 6100 is doing just what it's supposed to do. That nothing reaches your software firewall is a good thing. Knowing what it's rejecting has no real value.

I'm a novice at this so bear with me. I have just one pc connected to the Westell 6100 via ethernet then on to the internet. I've had a few people tell me that it would be better if I just had the Westell 6100 configured as a modem since I do not use a router. Is this true and if it is, how would I go about doing that. I have Verizon Online DSL (MD), Win XP (SP2), IE6. Right now, my firewall logs the source of all unsolicited inbound events as coming from the Westell 6100. I've been told that if the Westell is configured just as a modem my firewall would then be able to log the source of unsolicited incoming events properly. Can anyone shed some light on this for me.
Thanks
