Zyxel M-102 and O2Micro OZ6912 Cardbus Incompatibility?
Our Compaq Presario 2500 laptop has an O2Micro OZ6912 Cardbus and I'm having trouble with a new M-102 MIMO card. I can install the card fine and connect to my network, but when I reboot the machine the card is not detected 90% of the time. I have to remove the card and pop it back in for Windows to detect it. Once in a while I will get lucky and the card will be detected after booting, but I'm not doing anything to make this happen. I think it's a fluke.
I've researched the O2Micro OZ6912 Cardbus and it appears to cause a lot of problems with high-speed wireless cards and USB 2.0 PC Cards. I've tried every patch, firmware, and suggestion I've found and nothing has worked.
Before I return the M-102, I was hoping someone had some suggestions for me. If people tell me I'm out of luck, that's fine too. My old USR5411 card works fine with the stellar X-550 router, obviously just not at 108Mbps.
I've seen this problem on HP/Compaq laptops for a lot of wireless card out there. I think you need a BIOS upgrade, not a firmware/driver upgrade. If nothing else, I think a call to HP is in order. They should have received many calls about this issue.
I think you're right. I contacted O2Micro and they informed me the OZ6912 was old and EOL and no longer supported. LOL. Tell me something I don't know.

Have you tried the V2 drivers from Zyxel? Search for the M-102 (not the US version)
Yeah, the latest drivers still didn't work. The OZ6912 Cardbus is simply not compatible with the card. Here's what O2Micro told me:
There are several 802.11 PC Cards in the field with a compliance issue to the PC Card Standard. Our products released in past 3 years will work-around the issue, but OZ6912 is an old product and has this issue.
The OZ6912 is end-of-life product at O2Micro, there is no support for it now.
Sorry for this situation.
I returned the card this morning.
