There's some good info here:

though it's a bit hard to navigate.

In general, search for "structured wiring" and you'll find more than you want. This mostly pertains to wired; wireless is a bit easier in terms of technology, the only tricks are being able to place access point(s)/router(s) in the appropriate location(s) to give coverage to the house. The downside of wireless is the throughput limit is a lot lower than you can do over wired.

Why don't you try the Search button here for "home wiring"?

Hi,

My house is in the process of being built, and I'd like to take this opportunity to have the house wired or configured in such a way to allow me to connect to either cable internet or FIOS in many or all rooms.

Does anyone know of a guide for home wired and or wireless networking that I could use or if not, maybe a few suggestions for me?

Thanks,
Scott
