[Help Me] DWL-2100 only MAC address known

I have a dwl2100 which I thought was dead (I wish it was!!!)When powered up, and connected to a LAN, the LAN led comes on, but I cannot access the unit (not over lan or wan). I can check the MAC address with Ethereal. Tried setting up a static IP with: ARP -s (ip) (mac)
Still I cannot access the unit. I suspect the firmware has been corrupted.
Is there any other way to upload firmware to the unit?

Hi,

Try to connect the AP at »10.0.0.1 so assign an address like 10.0.0.2 ; 255.255.255.0 to your LAN connection.

Maybe you reach the crash recovery page of the 2100.

Lizzy,
thanx for the reply. Unfortunately this did not help.
Any other options?

For any of you that might run into the same problem - this is how I solved it:
Connected the AP to a laptop running "Ethereal". Found that once the AP was connected, it started sending "BOOTP" requests. Installed a third party DHCP server on laptop, and assigned IP pool address to DHCP client. Ethereal reported that the AP accepted the IP address assigned (192.168.0.1 - first IP in the pool)
Logged into the AP and uploaded new firmware.
Unit working as new.
Seems that somehow the firmware corrupted and changed the unit to a DHCP client.
...and I nearly booted it into file 13!!!!

I owe you a beer - this worked for me

Ethereal showed me nothing & I was expecting to see the crash recovery on 192.168.0.1 .. alas its 10.0.0.1 !!

If the 2100AP has a crash it would restart and show the crash recovery page at 192.168.0.50. But if it fails restarting it looses all its settings and is in most cases at 10.0.0.1.
Now you can flash every suitable firmware - even from other manufacturers. It doesn't know the check-sum anymore.

This crash happens very often to rev A3 in Europe. Seems to be a problem with the memory.
