You can't download your iTunes songs (well, once, but you have to ask nicely) if you lose them, so I would imagine not.

Hmm.... let see... you have one copy on your PC/Mac and one copy on your iPod. I would say that's more of a backup plan than most people have. So if your iPod bites the bit then you still have a copy on your PC that you can sync your new iPod with.

| Re: one problem said by hayabusa3303 :said by Pictor Guy : You missed the point are you really going to keep 100 movies on your HD? What happens if your hard drive fails? Are you able to burn a copy to DVD? But whats the point. Low grade dvd video. Someone might. And if your HD fails then you backup from your iPod. Low grade DVD video? Better than VHS or VideoCD. Some people may be okay with that. The lower resolution TV shows that they've been selling for a while now have done very well. And what's to keep someone from backing up the video to DVD to later transfer back to a computer? As long as the other PC is authorized you should be okay. | |

| If the world is fine with the disgusting pixelized quality Directv offers, there will be more than happy with this, I would bet that cat in your icon that people would actually think the quality is better.
Remember this is H.264 we are talking about not some Sorenson Video 3.

1 edit | Answer would be yes. If you are wanting to watch them on the computer later, without having the ipod to watch them off of, it would be seen by most as a way to keep them available to be able to choose and pick a selection when you travel. -- I threw out the map a long time ago. Now I follow my own direction!

| Rule #1. You download it. Rule #2. You don't own it. Rule #3. Watch it. Loss, deletion, hardware failure, etc, is the viewer's responsibility.
You are paying for Instant Gratification.
That is why I like Netflix. I get decent selection, and if timed properly, I can get movies at about less than $2 ea. And no late payment penalty (that comes out of the increase in movie cost-per-return rate).
Apple's idea is not new. Just backed better with cooler toys. I am more intrigued by the iTV thing. I mean, if someone hacks it into a DVR or Slingbox-type of thing that allows iTunes to convert a DVD to a media file, and wifi through home to iTVs, well heynow! Ofcourse my PC and Xbx360 do that now.
BTW, I wanted to see a 30G NANO. Samsung has the chips since May. Give me instant-on Nano-pod. No delays. Fast on and fast off. Nice screen and 24hr battery...not bad. But someday...maybe when Toyota get's off its collective, arrogant arse and starts making iPod interfaces in ALL their cars (not just some Lexus models)
