I forget what the command is for the docsdiag to show your speed. Also whats the current firmware for the 5120? I'm showing 2.10.1.3
Unless this is it?

2 edits | reply to TheWiseGuy Hmm not sure. When I do speedtests I'm getting in the 20/1.7 range or more. But if I am downloading several things at once and go to speedtest I get in the 6's but still decent up
Last Result: Download Speed: 21811 kbps (2726.4 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 1946 kbps (243.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
I cannot get over the 2.0 barrier yet |

1 edit | I got the upgrade.
Brooklyn, NY, 11224.
I had to manually reset the modem. I reset it for the second time today. Low and behold!
C:\ipv6\bin>docsdiag -vv | grep 5000000 docsQosMIB.1.2.2.6.2.2476.1 = [Gauge32] 5000000 docsQosMIB.1.2.2.6.2.2476.2 = [Gauge32] 5000000 docsQosMIB.1.2.2.6.2.2476.3 = [Gauge32] 5000000
My question is why aren't we seeing higher speeds. I can't get a speed test to go above 2600kbps or so.
I will be trying a multithreaded upload. Lets see if I can saturate 5mb.
Dave
edit: Tried to saturate it with Bittorrent. 2.6mbit or so is the highest I can go. Tried to saturate it with ftp uploads. Same story.
FIOS users get 4500kbps on the 5mbit up tiers.. 2600kbps is not impressive at all for a supposedly 5mbit line.
Sorry, but this just doesn't cut the mustard as an "upgrade". Maybe if they do some REAL upgrades and spend some $. |

1850kbps+700kbps a 5mbit upgrade does not make.

Well technically it IS 5mbit since they upped the caps on the modem to 5mbit, doesn't mean their network has the infrastructure in place to handle that speed though. At this point they are desperately trying to match Verizon. -- Its not about what you do, Its about HOW you do it |

| reply to lowdownshame said by lowdownshame : i recieved this memo on the job this week and figured id share the info. still no word on whether this will resolve any of the periodic evening slow-down issues throughout the system. definitely seems as though CV is going chest to chest with verizons fios by going 30/5 this will mean a simple upload will get you capped. |

It has not been publicly announced and no one knows whether Engineering needs to make adjustments. It may turn out to be a bad marketing stunt. If no one can get near 5mbps it will actually hurt if they market it as 30/5. -- Warning, If you post nonsense and use misinformation and are here to argue based on those methods, you will be put on ignore. |

| You're right TWG.
I'll Cablevision the benefit of the doubt, and am hoping that upgrades/adjustments will be taking place to help those of us who subscribe to Boost achieve somewhere close to what Verizon 5mbit tier people are achieving, and that is anywhere around 4500kbps.
I'm sure that it's something that needs to be adjusted due to the fact that Docsis 2.0 can easily accomodate this upload tier, and I doubt my lackluster 5mbit "2600kbps" performance is not due to local node congestion.
Let's see what happens... Dave |
