Just wondering if anyone here that uses Shaw cable internet, who is also on the new Docsis platform, notice any speed difference during peak hours?
There are some people in other forums on here mentioning "unlike Shaw which slows down to dial up speeds during peak times" and in my experience I've not noticed that since the new platform and hardly noticed it even before that.
Just wanting to get some other people's experiences on this subject. Whether this still happens or not. And please keep it clean if we can, lets not turn this into another "my isp is better because...." forum.

Thanks guys...

May 2004 upgraded Terayon for Motorola SB5100 signed up for on Xtreme(5000/1000) the same day.
-constantly ran 4926/965 24/7 -rock solid

May 2005 Shaw increased Xtreme to 7000/1000
-constantly 6900+/965 24/7 rock solid
-Best speed 6979/949 6970/949

August2006 Shaw increased Xtrme to 10000/1000
-no speed increase for me only a speed decrease.
-rock solid connection - no more

Sept 2006
-Tech came out checked signals (I still had good levels) but he did take my Sb5100 and replaced it with a SB5101
-I was now able to attain better than 6900 speeds
Pulled off 9260/914 9261/956 in the morning but speeds gradually decreased in the afternoon to the point at peak periods my upload is faster than my download

-I been on cable internet since '97 and before anyone says you have a virus/spyware or your compromised, I am running Linux for my OS

It depends on the neighbourhood you live in mostly. When I was with Shaw it would slow down between 3-10pm every weeknight and most of the day Saturday and Sunday. I would lose probably about 1/2 of my top speed (so going from 4000 down to 2100 or so), and rarely I would drop to the hundreds. I called Shaw about a dozen times and they told me it was something they would fix, but they didn't so I went to DSL and now I get 4000/500 at any time any day!!
MTS is fast. Adsl here is probably about 1 mbps down if that. What plan is that? I could find no advertised speeds on MTSs site. Do you have a link to some info?

edit no slowdowns here. Constant ~9mbps

I had speed issues in the past where speeds literally gone to hell during peak hours. That eventually got fixed and since then i never had any speed problems.

the speed problem is common in the GVRD area. there is no point asking anyone who has shaw internet in alberta because the speeds are usually perfect. it's common sense if you hung around the forums.

I've had Extreme about 2 weeks. It doesn't seem to slow down during the day as High Speed did. Maybe that makes no sense
See this test to Cogeco:Note the time...what's the busiest time of day?

dslreports.com speed test result on 2006-09-14 16:59:39 EST:
9483 / 928
Your download speed : 9483 kbps or 1185.4 KB/sec.
That is 148% better than an average user on shawcable.net

in the 2+ years i have been at my current home i have never had a problem here in calgary. I used to live in saskatoon, had the internet threw Shaw since they had launched and and never had a problem there, even using the old white cybersurf, my parents still use that same modem with no issues.

It is MTS (phone company) in Manitoba. I get 4000 down, 500 up any time. No bandwidth limits either!!

Who do you get your dsl from? mb.ca, who is that?
Here in Calgary I don't know of any Dsl that can do 4meg down other than Telus, but I don't want to sell my house to pay for that service.

Anyone else have issues with Shaw during peak times or are most of you good at all times of day?
