| If more Americans were willing to take the time to learn what's truly happening around them rather than being spoon-fed half-truths and propaganda, we wouldn't be suffering under an administration that has just this week made a determined, public effort to strike the prohibition against "offenses to personal dignity" from our methods of treatment for prisoners. It is disgusting that this is actually being debated in the United States of America. Worse yet that the right-wing crowd doesn't see anything wrong with that. They accuse the left of "blaming America first" while the righties in power whittle away our Constitutional rights, without care. Does that make them feel safer? Are they safer today than last year, two years ago, or five? No. But our country edges closer to disgrace.
As for Fox "News" ratings, they are no more impressive than the number of Roman citizens that would go to the Colloseum to watch Christians tortured. Ol' Rupert is laughing all the way to the bank, as his "news" network producers wait for the next dead blonde white girl and Old Glory waves in the lower corner of the TV screen. And the fools who buy their brand of propaganda think they're getting the straight scoop because Bill O'Reilly, whose father never loved him, can and does shout down his guests. There's a reason news is now called news-entertainment. Its not longer about the reporting of the day's FACTS, its about political and personal agendas and the deliberate distortion and selective introduction of fact, or in some cases, out right lies, to further an agenda while keeping the people glue to their television through the use of sensationalism.
Its odd how the media in American seems to resemble the Politbureau more and more...

For anyone to say that O'Reilly (or any of the others for that matter) does not lie is to be naive at best and complicate at worst.

Again though, of all the major news outlets, FOX News has avoided falling into the "Fake News" traps that have ensnared other news organizations. Because Fox knows its better to make a 1000 distortions over a period of time instead of one large Fake story that you can get hung for eventually.

Its more of an audience issue than anything... The news has to placate to the LCD. You can't expect high quality news when a majority of the audience can't digest it.

Like down 28 percent in primetime among all viewers, down 20 percent in primetime in the "money demo" (viewers aged 25-54) and down 7 percent in daytime viewership overall. In fact, the only place Fox is up is during the day, when they managed a ratings increase of just 2 percent, and even then only in the money demo.
And lest you think this is an industry-wide trend, consider this: over the same time period, CNN and MSNBC are up. CNN's up 35 percent during the day -- 46 percent in the money demo -- and up 21 percent in primetime overall, 25 percent in the money demo. MSNBC's ratings increases aren't quite as impressive -- up 6 percent in primetime overall, 8 percent in the money demo, and up 36 percent in the money demo during the day, 26 percent overall.
We, of course, are Fair and Balanced here, so there won't be any celebrating later tonight. Certainly we will not be opening any champagne. That would be wrong.

Besides, the article doesn't mention that they are still drawing more viewers than CNN and MSNBC put together.
