I love how conspiracy theorists all think THEIR idea is the ONLY sane one, even though there are dozens of other humdrums explanations to be had that make a lot more sense. They're right -- the about-face signifies a realization of some sort. If you're being paid off, you're not going to suddenly just change your opinion and lose that payday.
