Do proxy settings need to be configured for my HTTP access in IE, Firefox, etc? I don't exactly know what proxy is but i think i have read somewhere that they need to be configured. |

| If you configure and enable the browser proxy for HTTP: 192.168.0.1, port 87, you'll be using the DNS caching feature on board the HN7000S, resulting in quicker browsing to recently visited sites. The proxy in the browser does not have to be set up. Many users don't bother.

I just started using Firefox on Ubuntu Linux. I found that without the proxy I was frequently getting pauses while "Looking up ...", regardless of DNS server settings. Using the proxy fixed it. Browsing is now much more SNAPPY. I may not have everything set up just right on linux yet, so take this with a grain of what ever.
