 Data line only?

Hello, I want to order a second line from Verizon and order Cyberonic internet with a data line only. Will this work? I assume that Verizon will sell me a data only line and can provision Cyberonic internet through it. Any comments or suggestions will be helpful.

Thanks, Miguel

It is listed on their web site but often you do not save that much over a regular line and the telephone company tends to lose track of pairs with no dial tone on them and accidentally reuse them...

I had a DSL line with no dial tone -- and SBC/AT&T interrupted service about every 6 weeks. The problem usually happened on a Friday at 6pm or so because the installers were rushing to complete their installations for the week -- and would take the "spare pair" without a dial tone without following checking procedure. The result was that I was usually down for 4 to 5 days each incident.

Do a "dry pair" or "no dial tone" install at your own risk....!

PS: This dry pair line was not through Cyberonic, but through the Sprint ION service -- which was driven out of business in part because of issues like this. (Sprint ION offered 2 IPs of full rate DSL 8 MB down/1 MB up with four VoIP lines and 1000 minutes of long distance for $150 per month in 2000-2002. Full directory assist and 911 service , too. Sigh. I still miss it, except for the service interruptions every 6 weeks by SBC.)

Had Dry line data only for about 4.5 years. Verizon would disconnect at least once every 3 months and it took from 1 day to 14 days to restore service. I switched to a line share and for almost 1 year have not had a single disconnect. I have been told by a Verizon tech that the average lineman doesn't have tools to identify a dry ADSL circuit. I believe that accidents happen. When I had the dry circuit service a Verizon truck in the neighborhood usually accompanied the lose of service. Performance has been indistinguishable after installing a splitter at the side of the house.
