I looked at my connection settings and don't see the direct connection....is that just unclicking auto detect? Also, how do you go about changing the DNS entries to open root servers? I am not even sure what open root servers are...I did a search on here but didn't find anything to explain it to me. A real newbie here.. |

2 edits | What beldin says is pretty much it. But if you need detailed XP instruction, here they are. Open a browser and Click Tools --> Internet Options --> Connections Tab --> Lan Settings. When the box opens up deselect everything. Then you need to open up your network connections. Select the one that you are using, right click and select properties. When the box opens up, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)--> Properties. At the bottom select the radio button for Use the Following DNS Server Address. You can do a search on Google for Open DNS servers to find one that is available to you. After that things should work much faster. The other thing that you way want to do is get Tree Walk from this site. »ntcanuck.com/ Install this and flush the DNS cache and use the other utilities. This has cleaned up my issues so far, time will tell if it holds. |
