Is Norton Net sec 2007 still useing AtGuard?

I was wondering if the Norton Internet Security 2007 firewall still useing AtGuard technology as it's backbone or has it gone the way of Sygate?

Although the code has evolved significantly since the original NIS 2000 that was largely derived from the AtGuard technology, the AtGuard technology can still be found in the 2007 version.

Is there a status update on the new version of AtGuard?

AFAIK there will be no new version of AtGuard, and WRQ washed their hands of it years ago. Its just Norton now...

Also anything new would have to be completely rewritten, and I wouldn't accept what Norton has done to it either as I used AtGuard years ago, this is nothing like AtGuard anymore, especially in resource hogging, and how large the program has become.

To my knowledge, there won't be any further official releases of AtGuard. WRQ has gone in other directions.

There was a thread here discussing a group of individuals that were trying to make an updated version but I searched for it about a week back and couldn't find it.

AtGuard is too old to resurrect, it would have to be almost completely rewritten as it was designed on the 9x model. A small group was interested in trying to update Kerio 2.x, but after talking with developers that didn't go anywhere.

Thanks! I suspect I didn't look far enough back in time. Seems like just yesterday...
