And even if it's not widespread, this is the way the market is going, so while you are not entirely incorrect, you're not exactly up to speed either. |

Qwest has been doing Standalone dsl for quite awhile also. One of the first major telco's that actually offered it |

| Qwest does - cheapest route was with Qwest,net ISP and naked dsl line(no MSN) - and I hope they are in my neighborhood soon. I am stuck with cable right now, but would prefer DSL. Viva Upload  |

Yeah, but they charge almost as much for just DSL as they would for DSL _and_ a basic phone line. Not really naked. |

Yup. Just like cable charges almost as much for 'naked' cable modem service as they do for cable modem service 'clothed' in basic cable.
