voip is cheaper.. most cable co's let you choose to not have cable tv with broadband.. so why go with a phone company thats going to force you to have phone through them when u can get cable and voip??
Many telco's are offering DSL without phone these days, it's called "Dry DSL" or "Naked DSL". Bell Canada started offering this sometime ago. There are many users who have DSL only plus VoIP.
Bellsouth does not offer such a service, and they have coverage in 20% of the states...
