| reply to quanta Re: Toronto Hydro Telecom's One Zone WiFi...any thoughts?
I have tried onezone in a number of different locations in the downtown core, and find the reception to be terrible at best. So far, I have not found any cafe within the block bounded by Queen / Front and Yonge / University with better than a 2 bar signal. (Some have only 1 bar, or none at all). I called Hydro on this, and they tried to blame my computer or setup. Really? Strange...since I get a full 5 bars in virtually all of the above locations using Bell/Rogers HotSpots, McDonald's and so on. And on top of that, virtually everyone I have talked to have the exact same problems as I am having. It's a good thing Hydro is free for 6 months, as I am sure few will ever want to pay for it. After all, why would they at $29 per month? Just $25 per month will get you a Hotspot account with Rogers which can be used Worldwide, not just in a limited downtown core of only one city.

Holy crap! I guess it depends how many people are hogging it at a given moment, but it sure can be fast!

I've stood in front of Union Station and can't get service. But at Spadina & Queen I could.
Also, am I just doing something wrong. Or do you always have to enter ur user/pass everytime? |
