Tim, here's a way to do that sharpening without quite so much trouble:

1. Sharpen your RGB image.
2. Choose Edit - Fade - Luminosity.

Is it the one about changing the image mode to LAB, then applying sharpening only to the luminance (L) channel? That is the only sharpening tip I use, consistently.

There was a sharpening technique listed here a few days ago. I can't seem to find it. Could someone point me in the right direction?
