| Hangs on start up
I have a Toshiba Satellite. A couple of days ago, when I start up it hangs and the mouse (USB external) is able to open icons on the desktop but hangs over the Taskbar at the bottom. I am unable to open Start.
What I do is open the Ctrl/Alt/Del box and end session for the User (which is only me anyway). Then I go back in without an trouble; until I shut down and try to rstart.
Any ideas?
I have XP Home Media Center; McAfee (and had Windows Defender, but uninstalled it as I thought that might be the problem)

| Have you tried starting in Safe mode?
If you can do this:
1. Run a full system scan with your AV.
2. If nothing comes up, and still in SAFE MODE, go to My Computer>Right Click on C:>Properties>Tools>Error Checking, click on Check Now and check both boxes and push start, then Reboot.
Try that. |
