I hope hope they bury LimeWire I am sick and tired of deleted this software from my kids computer.
Why is it anybody else's fault that you can't control your children?

Agreed....put them on a limited account (if you are running Win2k or XP). Had to do that for my stepson when he got my puter infected awhile back.....if he wants something installed, I have to do it...

Sounds like they did assert control, he deleted it from the computer didn't he?

Everyone else needs to stop sounding so techno-righteous.

Said like someone without children or an understanding of what it takes to control kids internet activities.

I use access-lists that only allow the kids PC's to go out http, https, AIM or MSN IM and for good measure their user profiles do not allow them to install programs.

I think they used the word 'tool' in their context.

Then again, freedom of speech is also reserved for the righteous.

Lets try this again.

I hope LIMEWIRE wins!!! :P

What's freedom of speech got to do with this?

Ya know if you have any good 3rd party broadband router you could just block the ports on the router... Problem solved. Then it won't matter how many times they install it.

Because it's so much easier to point blame than it is to actually parent. That is the problem with the world today. There are too many lazy, good for nothing, parents that take responcibility for nothing.

I teach my kids to give them the finger.

It has nothing to do with being knowledgeable about computers, but more about being a lazy parent. He asserted minimal control while blaming company for his failure to educate and control his children. That's why he is getting flack from people for it. It doesn't take much to make a call to a tech savvy friend asking advise on preventing unwanted programs from being installed or visiting a forum such as this one. Sadly, it takes time and actual care to do research, so it's easier to just complain and point fingers at others.

Another solution is to simply teach your children that there are consequences to not doing what you tell them. If my child installed software on my computer (well, they are looking young for that now) then their computer access would be denied for quite some time.

If he had been truly righteous , his children wouldn't have been able to install unauthorized software in the first place.
