The great unwashed doesn't want broarband they want TV.

When a national TV franchise is passed the great unwashed will flock to FIOS. Internet is only important to 10%, TV is important to 80% when HD pay-pre-view porn is added to the mix. Don't piss on my leg and tell me it is raining.

That is why net-neutrality sucks,I don't want porn from Microsoft. I only dwell in the dark underbelly of a free and unregulated internet.

I agree with all but the net neutrality part. FIOS will really take off when they offer better TV programming rates. However, I don't know why the telco's should be able to get a better deal than the cable companies to offer the same product.

Also, the net neutrality thing... I thought the purpose of net neutrality was to give you a free, unregulated, internet?

I still say the solution to Neutrality is to do nothing. There is no impending doom, and therefore nothing to fix.

They won't, a national franchise is for all, you, me and the guy behind the tree. The local government will get 5% tax on all CATV. I don't know why Microsoft and those other third party providers can shove HDTV down the Tubes and not pay the 5% tax.

I would treat them akin to channels. If The Food Network really sucked, nobody would watch it. I'm not sure if TFN or other channels pay for the local franchise at all or not. If they do, then so should anyone who is offering HD / SD continuous feeds (aka channels). In short, I agree.

What happens is the CATV provider negotiates with cable providers and set a price. Then they charge there subscribers accordingly. Microsoft wants to be a YouTube, no regulation no fees.
