| Good on ya, Comcast!
Makes sense to me that Comcast would pay for it. The price to repair the house would be far less than a damaging 'bad rumor' would be.
Word of mouth campaigns do more to hurt a business than any advertising they pay for.
Get good service, and you may tell 2 or 3 people. Get bad service, and you may tell 20 or 30 people. |

@comcast.net | That has to be an ad for a Comcast subcontractor. AFAIK, Comcast supplies vans and tools to all in-house employees. |

| Wow, you mean that a US Cable franchise operator still has installers on their payroll?
I thought all that work was now contracted and subcontracted out. All of it in this area is. None of the cable companies have installers on the payroll, it's all contracted.
They have techs, but the techs don't do installs. -- Best of luck

| reply to jtudor What does US Cable and Comcast have to do with each other? We have US Cable here, they sub contracted installs for about a week, then went back to the techs doing it.
Now for the headline story, come on now, there really isn't anyone who still has not heard this urban myth is there? The story as told around here is as follows: Substitute DirectTV for the Cable Installer and the homeowner's buddy next door is an electrician and he is the one who caused the explosion of not only appliances but also the Circuit breaker box was blown off the wall, AND the dog that was swimming in the homeowner's pool at the time, was electrocuted. Then you are supposed mention something like, "Imagine how lucky the family was that only the dog was swimming at the time" Oh and DirectTV paid $300,000.00 in damages and for a non-disclosure contract. This story has been making the rounds for about three years in one form or another. |

| I got one for ya, When I worked for cable, was called to a house for cable issues. Upon arrival I found the fire dept, police, ambulance etc. there Come to find out the lady of the house called all of us as she was getting SHOCKED by everything. She was about to get in the bath when the faucet shocked her and thought better about it, started see electricity dance on things and started calling people. I started going around back just in time to see the Cable co-ax glow and short in have, quickly followed by the hanger strand glowed org to red then broke. As we watched all this I looked at the 3 individual Electrical lines (this is an old neighborhood)running from the mid-span of the line to the house with the brand new guttering directly on top of it! with brand new aluminum siding to conduct all the electricity everywhere. It was quite a Light show until the Electric Company cut the lines.
