Re: Your System - October 2006 New build this month.
Antec P180 (Black) Seasonic S12 600W PSU Asus P5W DH Deluxe Wireless Edition Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4 GHz Thermalright SI-128 heatsink w/120mm Scythe fan 2GB Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4 Gigabyte Geforce 7600GT 256MB Silent eVGA Geforce 7300GT (for second & third monitors) Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum w/front panel 74GB Western Digital Raptor SATA 400GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 SATAII Plextor 18X DVD-RW (PX-760A) Lite-On 52/16x CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive 120mm Scythe case fans
This is the quietest non-retail system I've ever owned. The only bad thing about it is that the core temp on the 7300GT gets wicked, smokin' hot -- as much as a whopping 90C. It's passively cooled, obviously. Interestingly, the 7600GT is also passively cooled but is usually a frosty 48C. Then again, it does have a humongous radiator of a heatsink.
Eventually the 7300 will be outta here, the 7600 will take its place as the ancillary monitor driver and I'll put a nextgen G80 GPU in the primary slot to handle gaming duties. -- "I'll follow the law until it's just stupid." -Ted Nugent |

MchartFirst There. join:2004-01-21 Gurnee, IL | reply to dragon New system for me, its a big improvement over my P4(A) @ 1.9ghz system..
Core2Duo E6600 @ 2.6ghz (Using stock cooler, should be able to get higher on overclock if I upgrade) Asus P5NSLI XFX 7900GS 256MB 2(DDR2 667 512MB Crucial Ballistix 3-3-3-12) In dual channel Audigy 2 Enermax Liberty 620w Lian-Li PC-7B plus II Black Aluminum 2(120GB WD's 7200RPM) In raid 0 using nForce controller
The Lian-Li case has 2(120mm) fans that push a lot of air, but are really quiet. The Intel stock cooler for my E6600 is pretty quiet as well. The Enermax PSU stays /really/ cool and the fan on it is pretty quiet. The only loud part on my system is the fan on my 7900GS, which can be pretty loud while the GPU is under heavy use. |

Stampeded the doors with the rest of the crowd at Comp USA this past Friday during their Moonlight Madness sale, and purchased this notebook for 20% off the marked price. I haven't had much free time to play with it yet other than updates and installing some software, but so far it works fine. This is my second computer, which will replace my old Gateway desktop purchased in October of 2002. -- This dog finds the porch more appealing everyday. |
