1 edit | Can't read DVD+R 16X
I have a laptop running a 24X CD-RW & DVD Combo but it doesn't recognise DVD+Rs. I was wondering if I'll have the same issue with DVD+RWs (2X and/or 4X) as I need this format to back up all my data.
Could anyone shed some light in here, please?
Thx.

| reply to Psicop Check the specs of your laptop. Older drives weren't always dual format. They either worked with -R or +R. If -R doesn't work, -RW most likely won't work either. If it's suppose to work with -R's, then see if there is a firmware update. Drives may need an update to read newer disks. |

If it's called a "combo" 24X CD-RW/DVD drive, then it can write CD's but only read DVD's. Do you have the model number? -- In Memory of Steve Irwin, 1962-2006. Rest in Peace, mate... |

I just found out my machine doesn't have a DVD+-RW dual layer drive, hence can only read DVDs. Well, time to upgrade my drive.
Thx Howie. |

BTW, I buy all my stuff here in the good 'ol USA, but those manuals are usually in Chinese too, if you know what I mean. |
