I have a laptop running a 24X CD-RW & DVD Combo but it doesn't recognise DVD+Rs. I was wondering if I'll have the same issue with DVD+RWs (2X and/or 4X) as I need this format to back up all my data.
Could anyone shed some light in here, please?

Check the specs of your laptop. Older drives weren't always dual format. They either worked with -R or +R. If -R doesn't work, -RW most likely won't work either. If it's suppose to work with -R's, then see if there is a firmware update. Drives may need an update to read newer disks. |

Not sure about that as I brought my laptop in Taiwan and the manual is in Chinese. |

I just found out my machine doesn't have a DVD+-RW dual layer drive, hence can only read DVDs. Well, time to upgrade my drive.
