| HELP playing movies via windows media player is too dark
Hi, I reformatted my computer and installed an old Nvidia geforce 6200 and everything was going great.
I wanted to watch one of my movies so I plugged the movie in but the screen was too dark. I tried putting in another movie but the same thing happened. Everything is too dark to be viewable.
Any ideas??

Have you installed a codec pack like K-Lite, or a codec filter like ffdshow?
Also, what is the format of the video, XviD, DivX, etc?

I have installed K-Lite yet I still have the same problem. I would assume that it's not a codec problem. |

Is this only on Windows Media Player, and other players are OK? Or is it too dark on others as well? |

It's dark everywhere.
I've researched the problem further more and realized that the nvidia driver is the source of the problem. I simply uninstalled the driver and installed an older version. If anyone encounters the same problem, make sure you just uninstall the driver and install an older driver (version 84.21 should do). |

| Somewhere within K-Lite there might be some controls for brightness, contrast, gamma, etc.
I don't have K-Lite installed, so I'm not sure. It's just a guess.
However, I do have ffdshow installed, and it does have those controls.

I've tried that... the problem is with the driver itself. The easiest way to solve the problem is to just switch to a working old driver. |
